Floor Removal & Demo, Lilbourn, MO

Floor Removal & Demo in Lilbourn, MO

Every new floor starts with getting the old one out properly. It is the least glamorous part of the job and the part that most determines whether the new floor performs, because a new surface is only ever as good as what it is sitting on. We take out carpet, pad, tack strip, glued vinyl, laminate and stubborn adhesive, deal with what we find underneath, and haul it all away. It is included in what we quote rather than appearing as a surprise once the furniture has been moved. Installed by our own crew across Lilbourn.

Floor Removal & Demo in Lilbourn

Built for Lilbourn homes.

Lilbourn is a small New Madrid County town of just under a thousand people, four miles west of New Madrid and a mile and a half north of US-62. It has had a post office since 1902 and takes its name from Lilbourn Lewis, an early settler. At under a square mile it is the kind of place where we can measure a house, go back for a second set of samples and still be done before lunch.

Lilbourn had 994 residents at the 2020 census, down 16.5 per cent from 2010, in a city of about 0.95 square miles in New Madrid County. It sits along Missouri Route D, a mile and a half north of US-62, with New Madrid four miles east.

In a town this size, most of the work is single rooms and single floors rather than whole-house jobs — a bedroom carpet, a kitchen that finally needs replacing, a hallway that has taken thirty years of traffic. We are set up for that. There is no minimum room count and we would rather do one room well than talk somebody into five.

Small-town houses do come with a particular problem, which is matching. If you replaced the living room five years ago and now want the hallway to match, the product you bought may no longer be made. We will tell you honestly whether we can get a match, whether we can get close, or whether the better answer is to run a deliberate transition at the doorway and stop pretending.

Lilbourn sits on the same alluvial ground as the rest of New Madrid County, so the usual check applies before a rigid plank goes down: how flat is the floor really, and how much moisture is the base holding.

Lilbourn FAQs

Floor Removal & Demo in Lilbourn, questions

Will you do just one room?

Yes. A single bedroom or one hallway is a perfectly normal job for us, and there is no minimum. Call 573-471-8700 and we will come and measure it.

Can you match flooring we put in a few years ago?

Sometimes. Flooring lines get discontinued fairly quickly, so we will check what is still available and tell you straight whether it is an exact match, a close one, or whether a transition at the doorway is the better-looking answer.

Is removal included in the price?

It is quoted as part of the job so you can see it, rather than being discovered afterwards. Lifting carpet is straightforward; tile and glued-down vinyl take considerably longer and are priced accordingly. Either way the figure is in the written estimate.

Can you just lay the new floor over the old one?

Sometimes, if what is down is sound, flat, dry and there is only one layer of it. Often the honest answer is no, because layering raises the floor height and you inherit every fault underneath. We will tell you which situation you are in.

Do you take the old flooring away?

Yes, all of it. Removal and haul-away are part of the job. You are not left with a pile of old carpet and tack strip to deal with.

What if you find rot or a soft spot underneath?

We stop and show you before we cover it. Soft or water-damaged subfloor gets cut out and replaced, and we will price that as an addition rather than quietly floor over it — covering it up only means dealing with it again later, at greater cost.
